Kesem School, Israel

Kesem, which means either “magic” or “charm” in Hebrew, is in our school’s case also an acronym that stands for “community,” “environment” and “place.” The school, which offers pupils a magical, open-schooling experience, places special emphasis on those three elements.

The school was established four years ago by group of parents who sought an alternative, open education framework for their children Over the course of the years Kesem has grown and is currently comprised of 170 pupils, from preschool through to the seventh grade. The school is situated on the grounds of Kibbutz Maale Hahamisha, which lies some 15 kilometers west of Jerusalem.
