Bridges mentor with students in Peru

BECOME A SEATTLE AREA CLASSROOM MENTOR
We are always in need of classroom mentors to work with students and teachers in our local Bridges schools. Help K-12 students learn about photography and multimedia to tell their stories, and throughout the process help them to learn about other cultures.

Classroom mentors must have completed training in one of our Digital Storytelling Workshops to have the skills needed to help us help our teachers apply digital storytelling tools to their curriculum. Our classroom projects happen during the local school year (September through June).

If you'd like to know more about what's it's like to be a classroom mentor, come to our monthly Bridges open house the 3rd Thursday of each month, from 5:00 - 6:00 pm, at our office in the Getty Images building at 601 N 34th Street in Seattle. Please RSVP to info@bridgesweb.org.

BECOME AN INTERNATIONAL SITE MENTOR
Those who attend our international Digital Storytelling Workshops serve a vital purpose in sustaining our programs. Our mentors are photographers, educators and people interested in cross-cultural understanding who volunteer their time and expertise to work with youth in our sites around the world. In return, our mentors come home with stories of how they were welcomed into remote communities, forged strong connections with the children they mentored and their families, and shared their expertise to help give a voice to cultures seldom heard.

They keep coming back! It is very common for Bridges mentors to volunteer again and again. They keep contact with their new friends, often becoming a effective advocates for improving conditions in the communities they visit. And mentors are valued ambassadors for the Bridges program - the enthusiasm of our returning mentors inspires others to join and support us.

OTHER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
We have additional opportunities for volunteers in our office and at special events. Please download our volunteer interest form and mail it to our office, or email to Tania at tania@bridgesweb.org. We will add you to our volunteer database, and call on you when we have a volunteer project that is a good match for your interests and experience. We will also add you to our general database so you will get all the latest news about Bridges, and our workshop schedule.

LEARN MORE AT OUR MONTHLY OPEN HOUSE
If the website hasn't answered your questions about Bridges, please join us at our monthly open house, held the third Thursday of each month, from 5:00-6:00, here at our office. This is a chance to meet a staff member, and ask questions about workshops and classroom programs. The next dates are May 15 and June 19.

Open houses are held only when there are confirmed attendees, so please rsvp to info@bridgesweb.org, and put "open house" in the subject line of your email to let us know you plan to attend. Thank you!
